Cheers all round as Café Conor wins best café/bistro award

Café Conor, one of Belfast’s best loved restaurants, has been voted best café/bistro in the prestigious annual Licenced and Catering News Awards.

The Stranmillis Road eatery picked up the award at a packed gala evening at the Europa Hotel, which was attended by the cream of Northern Ireland’s hospitality industry.

The LCN Awards are the only comprehensive awards event for the Northern Ireland hospitality industry and the winners are selected by an independent team of mystery shopper specialists.

The owners of Café Conor, Manus McConn and William Clarke were at the awards night with members of the restaurants staff team to accept the award.

Mr McConn said: “It was a great thrill when our name was called. This award is the result of a lot of hard work and dedication by our kitchen and waiting staff, who continually provide the highest standards of food and service.”

Mr Clarke added: “It is particularly rewarding to be recognised by industry experts. The LCN Awards are the blue riband event for our industry and it is so satisfying that all the hard work has paid off during what has been a difficult year for the hospitality industry.”

Café Conor has been in business for 14 years and has been renowned for its relaxed, friendly atmosphere and good, wholesome food. Its award-winning breakfast is regarded by many to be the best in Belfast.

The restaurant recently introduced a contemporary, new menu which has been well received by its growing numbers of regular and loyal customers. Dishes include a superfood salad with chilli chicken strips or halloumi and chargrilled chicken and chorizo focaccia. It  has also introduced a new tapas menu for those who like to taste a range of dishes.

The café also offers a full range of speciality coffees including the flat white, a delicious, velvety alternative to lattes developed in Australia and New Zealand.
