Ballyhackamore’s Christmas Family Fun Day on Saturday, December 10 promises lots of special guests, fantastic food, great gifts and super seasonal music and dance.
The fun starts at 10am at St Colmcille’s Church, with 25 stalls offering fantastic festive foodie treats and great gift ideas at the specially extended market.
There will be treats galore including an Irish Dancing display, a carol concert from St Joseph’s Primary School and more seasonal tunes from Ormeau Concert Band.
A number of popular cartoon and movie characters will be there to entertain children and mums and dads from 11am to 4pm.
On top of all this, Santa and Mrs Claus will arrive at St Colmcille’s on a Fire Engine and entertain the children with Yuletide tales in the church hall.
William McSorley, Chair of Ballyhackamore Business Association, which is organising the Fun Day with support from Belfast City Council, said there was something for everyone on December 10.
He added: “There are lots of other tasty artisan treats and superb handmade gifts from a range of talented artists and crafts people. There’s also lots of great entertainment to get people in the festive mood. We want to to show off Ballyhackamore Village, which is one of Belfast’s most desirable shopping and eating areas. We have had great support from the traders of the area and are expecting a bumper Christmas in Ballyhackamore this year.”
Councillor Aileen Graham, Chair of Belfast City Council’s City Growth and Regeneration Committee, said: “The Council is committed to supporting our independent retailers and traders associations which are the backbone of our local economy. Indeed neighbourhood-based retail plays a vital role in sustaining and creating jobs while also providing valuable local services which improve community cohesion and wellbeing.
“A number of business associations from across Belfast including Ballyhackamore Business Association have received funding support from Council for a range of promotional and marketing activities this year aimed at increasing footfall and sales within their catchment areas. These include the Christmas period and other seasonal events. We wish Ballyhackamore Business Association every success with their Christmas Family Fun Day on Saturday 10 December and would encourage locals as well as visitors to show their support to the event.”
The Irish Dancing display will begin at 11am, followed by traditional carols from St Joseph’s Primary School at noon and rousing seasonal music from Ormeau Concert Band from 2-4pm. Santa and Mrs Clause are scheduled to arrive at 1pm.
During the day the little ones will be able to get their faces painted in their favourite characters and animals. All of the entertainment is free and everyone is warmly invited to join in the fun.
