‘Made in Belfast,’ a stunning new exhibition showing the best of the city is currently on display at The Wicker Man craft and gift shop in High Street.
The series of photographs by leading Irish photographer David Knight looks at the city through fresh eyes, capturing its beauty and the contrast between the old and the new.
Many of the city’s most famous landmarks, including the Albert Clock, the Crown Bar and Custom House Square feature in the exhibition. But there are also striking images of the new architecture that is helping to make the city a magnet for tourists.
The images will form the basis of a range of cards, calendars and prints exclusive to The Wicker Man.
Laurence Burrell, co-owner of The Wicker Man said: “We are very excited by this project. Some of these images of Belfast have never been seen before and they will show visitors what a beautiful and vibrant city this is.”
The exhibition was attended by Belfast Lord Mayor Pat Convery and Deputy Lord Mayor William Humphrey, who both praised the initiative taken by Laurence and her business partner Peter Todd to promote the city.
Mr Humphrey said: “I would like to commend The Wicker Man for staging this exhibition. These fabulous photographs illustrate how much the city has been transformed. I am sure tourists will delight in these images and will bring them home as a reminder of their visit.”
David Knight added: “I wanted to look at Belfast through fresh eyes. I thought ‘wow’ this city is fantastic. So I spent two or three days in the city as a tourist wanting to capture what Belfast is really like.”
