Ballyhackamore businesses are getting social with the launch of a new Facebook page this week aimed at giving loyal customers an even better service.
The bright, easy to use page set up by the Ballyhackamore Business Association will give local retailers and professionals the chance to let shoppers know about sales, special offers, competitions and events. A new ezine linked to the Facebook page will also give up-to-date news right to their in-box.
“The businesses in the area have been working together as a team to show people what Ballyhackamore has to offer. After the success of our Christmas light switch on event, we wanted to build on the relationship that we are developing with the local people and those from farther afield,” explained Chairperson Brenda Shankey.
Alderman Christopher Stalford, Chairman of Belfast City Council’s Development Committee, which has provided support to the Ballyhackamore Association through the Retail Action Plan 2011-2012, said: “The council is working hard to support local businesses across the city and are delighted with initiatives like this.
“The use of social media to promote business is one of the areas we tried to strengthen during the recent Belfast Independent Retail Week so to see that Ballyhackamore has taken this lesson to heart is satisfying.”
With 100 businesses in Ballyhackamore, the business association formed in 2010 to bring traders and professionals together to promote the village. They played a key role in Belfast Independent Retail Week and are planning an Olympic –themed event in June – full information about this event will be on the Facebook page soon.
